Krystin Avant

Krystin Avant graduated the Aveda Institute Lafayette in 2006, at the age of 16. She has worked her way through the hair world with vigor and passion.

Krystin started her career taking cutting classes in Hammond, Louisiana with Aveda cut and design educators, learning precision haircutting and advanced razor cutting.

After school, she began working for a large chain salon where she was trained in color placement and hair-shaping. She won a contest (one of 13 in the nation) and was sent to NYC to train at the TIGI Advanced Academy. She spent week learning precision hair cutting and design.

From there Krystin went on to assist a talented stylist to further her knowledge of cut, color, style, and client retention. She then attended Blue Cliff College for a license in massage therapy, while working for a Thai spa & salon learning skills in nails, skin, and massage therapy while still practicing her “hair art”. Krystin has worked for many salons, some trendy, some a little more old-fashioned. She managed two salons, both for about two years, where she learned a little “business sense”.

The Birth of a Salon

Krystin began working with Nonnie Berard, a stylist who’s ideas radical ideas of what a hair salon should be, matched perfectly to hers. They worked at multiple salons together all the while dreaming up something new, something different. That dream is The HeadQuarters Salon where they have shared a 50/50 partnership since 2014.

The HeadQuarters was named “Top 5 hair salons in Acadiana” every year since their first year in business. Placing in hair contests and putting on performance art pieces using their hair as their canvases.
The HeadQuarters has made a name for itself as a staple in the local art community. Krystin’s attention to detail and knowledge of shape and color theory make her a lead stylist at The HQ. She works all of the time, and is very passionate about her job as a hairstylist. Because of that passion she can be difficult to get an appointment with, but she is so worth the wait!
